Latah Creek’s signature product known as “Spokane’s #1 wine,” is a 70-30 blend of Washington Riesling and Chenin Blanc with huckleberry juice and concentrate.
First released in 1996, it’s become a breakout favorite and now accounts for roughly half the winery’s production. It’s a wine that surprises people—in the best way.
What makes it stand out is balance. While “huckleberry” might suggest something sweet and jammy, the fruit itself is naturally tart—more like a wild blueberry with a bright edge. When blended with Riesling’s natural acidity and a touch of residual sugar, the result is a wine that’s vibrant, crisp, and refreshing rather than overly sweet.
In the glass, it’s expressive and inviting. Aromas of bold berry and honeysuckle lead into layered flavors of blueberry, pear, and delicate florals. A clean кислотy backbone carries through to a lingering finish with hints of minerality and subtle spice.
This is an easy wine to enjoy, but not a simple one. It’s equally at home on its own or paired with food—think citrus-forward salads, pork, grilled chicken, or light summer dishes.
Huckleberry d’Latah is a great introduction to fruit-driven wine done right: balanced, approachable, and just different enough to keep you coming back for another glass.
